Dull pain - đau âm ỉ, nhẹ nhẹ. Thường bệnh nhân hay nói là đau khoảng chỗ này/chỗ kia, một vùng cơ thể. Như đau bụng. Ðau ngọc hành. Cramp (đàn bà).
sharp pain - đau nhói, thốn. Bệnh nhân thường thì có thể chỉ rõ chỗ đau. Như tim, sạn thận.
stabbing pain/shooting pain - tôi nghĩ cũng như sharp pain.
Stabbing pain: Ðau như bị ai/cái gì đâm.
Shooting pain: Ðau như bị bắn. Cái này nghe không lọt tai. Nhưng nhiều khi còn có nghĩa là sự đau đớn mà lan ra. Ex: the pain shoots up my arm. Cái này thì có thể dịch là sự đau đớn lan ra/ đi lên trên cánh tay không ?????

aching pain - đau nhức và nhẹ.
burning pain - đau rát.

radiating pain - đau (nhói) và lan ra dần.

Tôi thường nghe trong cấp cưú chỉ hỏi dull hoặc sharp pain cho nội thương. Nếu sharp pain thì họ sẽ hỏi thêm pain có radiates (lan ra) không (thường nếu đau ngực/liên quan đến tim họ hay hỏi câu này lắm).
