Theo tôi hiểu thì ý của sự so sánh đó là như vầy:

Nếu một người có sự miễn dịch bẫm sinh (có thể là do mẹ truyền qua cho con khi cho con bú), thì một khi người đó nhiễm một vi trùng nào, thì cơ thể sẽ lập tức phản ứng một cách toàn diện hoặc tối đa (tất cả bạch huyết cầu đều tụ lại một cách nhanh chóng để diệt vi trùng).

Còn về miễn dịch thích nghi (có thể có được khi mắc bệnh và sau này thích nghi hoặc có thể là qua sự chủng ngừa), thì khi một vi trùng xâm nhập, cơ thể có thể là không phản ứng một cách lập tức, và nếu có phản ứng lập tức đi nữa thì không mạnh mẽ một cách tối đa.
