Thread: Hi & request from new member in South Africa!

Default Hi & request from new member in South Africa!

    Hi everyone!

I am a new member of this wonderful community from Cape Town, South Africa.

I just joined up as I now have a wonderful Vietnamese girlfriend (Lan) who I met while on a business trip to Singapore.

Lan is just starting to learn English so we can only communicate by her sending me sms messages in Vietnamese, which I then need to translate into English so I can reply! (I use vdict to translate my sms reply to her into Vietnamese).

I would be most grateful to any members of this wonderful community if they could translate Lan's short Vietnamese messages to me into English. Member: justdoit has already very kindly translated my first message for me - thanks so much justdoit!

On another note, I am also looking for any kind of new job for Lan in Vietnam or Singapore. If anyone knows of any decent work - no matter how small - I would be most appreciative if you could let me know.

In exchange for all your help, I would like to offer any advice or assistance to members interested in travelling to beautiful Cape Town, South Africa. Just ask and I'll try answer all your questions! Also, I would like to provide some of my SPACE board games free of charge to members who can assist me in any of the above.

Thanks so much again in advance and I look forward to hearing from you!

Best wishes from Cape Town, South Africa

    Peter

    Dear English-learner,

Thanks for your reply. I'm sorry but I cannot read it as I do not yet speak or read Vietnamese! I tried to translate your message using Vdict but I still could not understand it properly! Would you be able to post your reply again in English?

Look forward to hearing from you - best, Peter.

    Dear all,

My apologies for the confusion created by my original introductory letter!

I have joined this wonderful community to learn more about the Vietnamese culture and language, as well as to ask for help in translating my girlfriend’s short Vietnamese sms messages to me. These messages have not been Unicoded properly so I have had great difficulty having them translated using an online translator.

As thanks for help with these translations, I would like to share my knowledge of my country’s language and culture with anyone interested. My first language is English, although we have many official languages in South Africa!

I hope this has helped clear up some of the confusion!

    All the best,

Peter in Cape Town, South Africa.

    Welcome you to this forum!

    Nice to meet you!
If I make a mistake when I write in English, advise me right away. If not, I won't know where I'm wrong (cám ơn carolton67 đã sữa giúp)

Nếu tôi có viết tiếng Anh sai chỗ nào, chỉ tôi liền nhé! Chứ không ấy thì tôi chả biết tôi sai nữa!

Hi traicocxanh - thanks very much for your warm welcome!

Hope you don't mind a quick grammar correction! 'Welcome you to this forum!' should be 'Welcome to this forum!'

    All the best, Peter

Mầu đỏ ở trên thiếu động từ.

I do not know when my English will be better.

I do not know how long it takes/will take to improve my English.

I do not know how long it takes/will take for my English to get better.

Đừng nghĩ bằng tiếng Việt mà dịch thẳng qua tiếng Anh. Dễ bị sai lắm.

I often translate in Vietnamese to English! But I don't know how to solve this problem!
