If you want to use the verb "to stay", it should be written stayed(past tense)stay và lot

Suzuki has it right: '... we spent ten days in New York. We visited a number of places, ...' Those are the natural, first-choice options.
Also possible: 'We stayed ten days in New York. We visited a lot of places'. This is OK if the speaker wishes to emphasise the large number of places they visited.
'Lasted' is usually wrong, unless the speaker wants to highlight that they found New York a very difficult place to visit! Another example:
'He took a job as a bartender, but he couldn't mix the drinks properly. He only lasted a week.'
