hi...can some one please tell me what does this word mean
tinh nghia??
it means "love & duty"
To the man who only has a hammer, everything he encounters begins to look like a nail.

I found a better interpretation for it,
tình = love, passion
nghĩa = devotion
tình nghĩa = love and devotion, (also attachment, grattitude)
When they say "tinh nghia vo chong" it means "love and devotion betwêen husband and wife."
"Không tình thì còn nghĩa", means "even if without love, there is still devotion and duty"

so you r saying that even without love there can still be tinh nghia??
It is said that in marriage for such a long time, love has been replaced by "devotion and duty". The string attached between husband and wife now is just the duty for children, for fame (??? I mean danh dự). But in my opinion, if there's no love, they can't take of each other for real.
well said......its quite amazing that if a couple has no love n being 2gether bcos of tinh nghia. I understand from some of my friends that having 2 wife is common in viet culture. I hope I don't offend any 1 here but thats what i heard
Ha, ha ....more explanation more complexity.
In Vietnamese, tinh = love and nghia = duty, business, service, obligation
Some married couples still live together although they have no love or their love is come to an end. And they commonly justify/ defend / argue that they are still aware of duty, obligation.....
more confused !!!
