    Neth·er·lands (nĕthər-ləndz) Often called Hol·land (hŏlənd).

A country of northwest Europe on the North Sea. Inhabited by Germanic tribes during Roman times, the region passed to the Franks (4th-8th century), the Holy Roman Empire (10th century), the dukes of Burgundy (14th-15th century), and then to the house of Hapsburg. The northern part of the region formed the Union of Utrecht in 1579 and achieved its independence as the United Provinces in 1648 after the Thirty Years' War. In the 17th century the country enjoyed great commercial prosperity and expanded its territories in the East and West Indies and elsewhere. The kingdom of the Netherlands, proclaimed at the Congress of Vienna (1814-1815), included Belgium until 1830. Amsterdam is the constitutional capital and the largest city; The Hague is the seat of government. Population: 15,380,000.

    S/B What's going on?
go on Người VN thường nói "Có gì lạ không?", "Có gì không?'....

    1. To take place; happen: didn't know what was going on.

Người ta gọi Netherlands là Holland có nghĩa là vũng đất thấp/ trũng do từ Hollow và land hợp thành.
Riêng về British và England thì khác nhau, cái này nhiều người Việt lầm.
Do VN dịch sai và dùng sai lâu ngày nên người học tiêng Anh bị lầm lẫn
British là tiếng adjective còn England là noun khác nhau. Nếu British là noun thì phải viết hay nói the British.(the British =the people of the United Kingdom)
Thí dụ: He was born in France but his parents are British.
Danh từ của british là Britain.
Britain/Great Britain = England, Scotland, Wales. Ba xứ này hợp lại gọi là Britain.
Còn Vương quốc Anh tức là UK (United Kingdom) thì gồm có Enland, Scotland, Wales và Northern Ireland
Bởi thế tiếng Anh của người Anh thì gọi là British English. Tiếng Anh của người Mỹ thì gọi là American English, tương tự ta có Canadian English, Australia English
Người Việt dịch Britain/ british hay England đều là Anh cả.
What's going on today? (có lẻ nên thêm 's) thì như bạn MN dịch có nghĩa hỏi thăm thôi. Như người Việt mình nói "bữa nay có gì không?" "Hôm nay thế nào rồi" '" Hôm nay làm ăn ra sao".....

Past perfect If two events happened in the past, use present perfect for the event that happened first.

S/B: Past Perfect Tense dùng để diển tả một hành động xãy ra trước 01 hành động khác cũng xãy ra trong quá khứ và đã hoàn tất.

The past perfect tense, formed in English with the past participle of a verb and the auxiliary had, as had learned in the sentence. TD:

    1. He had learned to type by the time I left the school

    2. I had lived in the USA for 5 years before I met her last summer.

    Here look:

TD: I had lived (p. p. of to live) in the USA for 5 years before I met her last summer

Now we replace the verb "to live" withto have

I had had (past participle of verb to have)that book in the USA for 05 years before I met (past tense) her and decided (past tense) to give it to her last summer....

Let's go back to Present Perfect Tense:

I have had (p.p of to have) this book for five years, now I give (present tense) it to her.
