German is a bit more difficult to learn for Vietnamese than English or French. That's mainly due to the many grammatical irregularities, which the student has to memorize. But the whole basic concept is similar to English. I think it takes very much time, if you want to learn it by yourself.
The Vietnamese students I know in Germany all managed to attain a high level after learning German at a language school for one year, starting from nothing.
My Vietnamese teacher, who studies German language in Germany, speaks German absolutely flawless, and without any accent. Speaking with her on the phone you'd never guess she's not from Germany. Also, she's a cutie, heehee..
So there's hope.

Toi dang bat dau hoc tieng Duc, rat vui khi thay tin nay nhung co le lau roi nen khong biet con ai quan tam khong. Neu biet xin chi giup tu dien Duc - Anh va Duc- Viet. Xin cam on.

It's great to see this threads since I start learning German now but I guess maybe it's no more interesting from you or a bit too late. Hope it isn't. Please help the dictionary German-English and Germany-Vietnamese. Many thanks in advance.
