[B] Chinese dumplings sicken 175 Japanese[/B]
TOKYO – The Japanese government said at least 175 people have been sickened by insecticide-tainted dumplings from China, prompting supermarkets to pull Chinese-made meat products from their shelves while Tokyo presses Beijing to improve food safety.
The dumplings were produced by Tianyang Food Processing, in Hebei province, outside Beijing, the Japanese Health Ministry said. The ministry said it had halted the sale of all the company's products.
The company that sold most of the contaminated dumplings, Japan Tobacco, has come under criticism for failing to begin the recall until a month after the first known illness in December.
