THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A CYCLONE AND A TORNADO?

A cyclone can sometimes cover an area up to half the size of the United States! A tornado is a much smaller but intense cyclone that usually is only 300 yards (273 meters) across. Low atmospheric pressure at the center and winds spiraling inward are the two characteristics of a cyclone. These storms are called hurricanes when they take place in the Atlantic Ocean and typhoons when they happen in the Pacific Ocean.

Quick way to verify, flush your toilet or empty your bathtub. Those in like Australia will see the water rotates clockwise as it goes down. In VN the opposite is true.

Typhoon comes from Chinese word for đại phong.
