Lắm & quá
There is a little different. See this:
- quá lắm! [overdo!]
Lắm often means Very, simple expression but quá of the same meaning while normally emphasizing some feeling not pleased.
- Quá tồi/tệ/dở not lằm tồi…
- Quá hay not lằm hay...
but
- Anh nói quá lời…
- Anh nói lắm lời…
there are different meanings. The first saying means to go beyond of the topic while the second means talktive.
And of course, the meaning of a word always depends in a syntax. Quá can stands for Extreme(ly) when followed by an adjective.
- Chà, chiếc xe quá đẹp! [Wow, the car is extremely nice!]
