Nowadays, chemical engineers apply knowledge from many fields (chemistry, physics, biology, genetics, etc.) to manufacture many products (such as oil, plastics, chemicals, food, pharmaceuticals) as well as develop processes to purify water and clean up the environment, to name a few. In other words, as a chemical engineer I am not an expert in chemistry; I only know enough about chemistry to appy it in my work.
