Chuyện gì hiếm khi xẩy ra:

Every now and then: thỉnh thoảng một lần (nhưng xẩy ra nhiều hơn once in a while).

Once in a while: lâu lâu một lần.

Once in a blue moon: blue moon là trăng tròn thứ nhì trong tháng. Thường thì khoảng 2.5 năm có một lần. Chuyện hiếm khi xẩy ra.

If/when the moon is made of green cheese. Chuyện không bao giờ xẩy ra. Ðúng ra là greene (new, unaged) cheese.

If/When pig can fly. Heo có thể bay [được]. Chuyện không thể xẩy ra được.

Chữ out + Verb là dùng để chỉ làm hơn cái gì/người nào.

Outwit: cũng như outfox trong nghĩa là lanh lợi hơn, khôn ngoan hơn. Cả hai outwit và outfox có thể được dùng trong nghĩa xấu và tốt.

Outtalk: Nói nhiều hơn, hoặc nói giỏi hơn.

Outrank: hơn trong cấp bậc trong quân đội, hãng xưởng.

Outspeak: nói giỏi hơn, nói hay hơn.

Outspoken person:[người] nói không nể nang ai, không sợ ai, không "vuốt mặt nể mũi". Cái này thường dùng trong nghĩa động-tĩnh từ và cũng là past participle của chữ outspeak.
