Best way to address strangers

"anh" or "chú"
I think "chú" is the best choice if you have a normal relationship with him, "anh" seems to be a too intimate word

let's just say that I don't really know him that well. So if I use "anh," then "em" would be the easy choice for myself. But if I call him "chu," then how should I address myself? "Chau"?

yes, if you call him "chú", you will be "cháu"
