Default UniKey on 64 bit OS?

    Hello,

I am new here and do not speak Vietnamese. I am a tester trying to determine if the UniKey program works with a tool. We discovered it was working great on XP and Vista, that was until we tried on Vista 64bit.

For some reason on 64, UniKey will not type in Vietnamese characters that have 2 accents. So if I type awf with UniKey I should get a with 2 accents I only get a with one accent and f.

Is anyone familiar with UniKey? We have tried other locations on the web but many hits come back in Vietnamese and when we translate the page to English it doesn't make much sense.

    Thank you very much!
    Jennifer

    Default Don't worry

I know why. This is because u are using an "intelligent" UniKey tool . It knows there is no Vietnamese word with "awf" stand alone (which will be shown as "ằ", I can type this beacause I use older UniKey version). So, try to type "hawfng" (hng) to see what happen.

Your used UniKey version is a good one. When it lets you know when you type accents/characters/syllables that don't make sense in Vietnamese.

    Good luck

Thank you for your reply Phong Lan.

Unfortunately, I am still experiencing the problem.

I am using version 3.63 of UniKey (it said it was the most stable version)

If I type hawfng on Vista 32 bit OS I see hằng

If I type the same hawfng on Vista 64 bit OS I see hăfng

I do not know why with the same programs, but only different is 64 bit vs 32 bit it will not work right

I have UniKey set to Unicode and TELEX.

If you have any more suggestions I would be happy to try them.

    Thank you!

Unikey and Vietkey may not be compatible with Vista 64 bits.

You can try to remove Unikey and install this software http://dotnetkey.googlecode.com/files/DotNetKey.exe

Hope it works. If not, you may ask your Vietnamese co-workers for helps. I don't know much about Vista, sorry.

Unikey and Vietkey DO NOT compatible with 64 bits Applications, not Windows (XP, Vista, Seven) 64bit version.

If you type Vietnamese on 32 bits applications, it's still work correct (Ex: Yahoo Messenger is a 32bit application, you can type Vietnamese as normally. But you can't do it with Notepad because it's 64bit application).

I recommend use DotNetKey, it's 64bit application. It compatible with 32bit and 64bit applications.
