lên từ điển Lạc việt ( hơi thiếu tính thuyết phục chút) họ ghi rằng bread and butter là bánh mì phết bơ
Những cụm có and nối giữa mang nghĩa như một single item này ví dụ như fish and chips là một món, coffee and milk..

Món đó gọi là bread and butter pudding chứ không phải là bread và butter nằm trong recipe của pudding

Please keep in mind that every one can speak out their opinion, it
calls "freedom of speech". Every one should be welcome, and attitude is most important. All we are winners
rather than a loser, because we help English learners geting clear of English word's meaning.
    Luuvan,
Asking for a direct answer (yes or no; right or wrong) has nothing to do with "attitude" and freedom of speech." You must have misundertood those terms!

Everybody's right, in a sense. You can say:

Bread and butter are basic foodstuffs. (plural)

In this use, they are seen as two separate nouns, so you need a plural verb.

But you can also view 'bread and butter' as a compound noun which can be treated as a unit. In that case, use a singular verb.

Bread and butter is what I like best.

    You can also say:

Bread and butter are what I like best.

That's more precise, but in casual speech we would be more likely to use the singular form. But don't forget that putting this at the beginning of the sentence is giving it a strong emphasis. That may be all right sometimes, but usually we would say:

I like bread and butter best.

Then you don't have any problems with the verb agreeement.

There's also an idiomatic use, which has the sense of 'a person's main source of income'.

He sells spare parts for computers, but designing websites is his bread and butter.

There is also an adjective form of this idiom: bread-and-butter.

Health, education and the economy are bread-and-butter issues for the electorate.

    Does that help?
