    Default more clarification

#7 capital improvements is in addition to the maintenance. for example the company will purchase additional equipment to replace older less functional equipment. The financial term for that is capital improvement. So they will have capital improvements and they will perform maintanenance.

#4 the company will measure how well they have performed this goal by looking at employee training records and the employee survey. both should show each employee receiving training on all the various aspects of their jobs.

    Widget,
    So my #7 will read:
7.Hệ thống bảo dưỡng đáng tin cậy- Chúng ta phấn đấu sẽ liên tục chú tâm vào việc nhận diện và xây dựng một hệ thống bảo dưỡng, các chính sách về vốn đầu tư và thực tập thật hiệu quả để kềm chế được các rủi ro hư hỏng máy móc một cách tốt nhất.

I will change to 'chúng ta' on #4 and keep 'chúng tôi' on #2.

I think you are reading more into the statements. An internal audit is usually an accounting inspection of a company's books, revenue, expenses, etc. done by the company itself and is not for auditing employee performance. An external audit as in something the IRS would do is the same thing, where they go into a company and take a look at the accounting books to make sure there is no cheating going on. So the word audit is very specific to "kiểm toán". Of course you can't use "kiểm toán" for employee performance because the word is used only for accounting purposes; that is where the word "toán" comes in. "Toán" as in arithmetic is used to calculate the money in company's books so they can gauge if they're profitable or losing money. The company already has in place separate measures to evaluate employee performance.

As for #7, the statement mentions 2 different processes which are separate from each other: operational maintenance and capital improvement.

Capital is the "vốn" or money you use to invest in your company, to get your business started and keep it running. I think in that statement they want to improve their capital or "vốn" in the event their machinery breaks down, then they would have to have "vốn" to repair it or purchase new ones. If all their "vốn" or capital is tied up they won't be able to buy new machinery or repair the ones not working and their whole production will suffer.

Not necessary Carolton, Audit, internal as well as external, is an inspection of an accounting matter, it could be an inspection of safety issue to see if the company is violating OSHA regulations or it could be an inspection of how a procedure followed. I strongly disagree with your using Kiểm toán in this case.

Ok, then we will agree on disagreeing. I have never heard of OSHA referring to their inspections as "audits"; that is your own interpretation. OSHA uses terms such as "on site inspection", "safety inspection", "safety compliance assessments". I have browsed through the OSHA website and the main word they use for "inspection" is inspection. I think I would be interested in hearing if anyone else has any input on this. Maybe widget could clarify if that term "internal audit" refers to examination of accounting or procedural performance.

Default Internal Audit in Manufacturing Terminology

An internal audit in manufacturing is as Lenguyen stated it "could be an inspection of how a procedure followed". There is are international manufacturing standards such as IPC-A-610 that have specific requirements that indicate the correct way a process is performed...the way a component is soldered to a board...what is acceptable? The standard provides that determination so that each company does not have to establish that criteria continuosly. It is performed either by a "certified" internal auditor contracted by the company to review its manufacturing process or it may be by an internal person that was trained to know what is correct and what is a problem or defect.

The audit process is the same whether it be financial or manufacturing. There is a specified criteria that the "object" must meet. If it fails to meet those parameters it is not acceptable. In ISO9001:2000, there are specific criteria a company must meet in order to obtain registration. This company is preparing to undergo this "audit" by an ISO registered auditor to verify this company has met the quality standards and guidelines specified in that Quality Standard. Internal auditing is one of the parameters an ISO9001:2000 company must meet. They must either hire a contractor to perform these periodic inspections of their manufacturing processes or train persons within the company to perform the evaluation. The person performing the audit may be external or internal...but the evaluation is of the "internal" process.

    Default Capital Investment

In this context, the company will have the financial ability (fiscal responsibility) to invest in new equipment that provides for growth opportunities and/or processes product efficiently to current acceptable standards. It also is to make the financial decision to replace or repair existing equipment to operate at acceptable levels. In order to stay competitive, they may need to invest in equipment that operates faster, has more capacity, or newer technology, etc.

For example, many newer electronic designs require the solder to be lead-free. It requires a different machine to "flow solder" components with lead solder versus lead-free. Eventually, this will be an industry standard, but currently it is a change in progress. For this company to be "fiscally responsible" they needed to invest in purchasing a lead free solder machine.

    Thanks

Thanks for the clarification. Then, I would defer that Lenguyen was correct for "internal audit".
