Rosetta Stone

Who actually uses this? Is it helpful when it comes to vietnamese?

I assume my family are from the south because of the different dialects I hear when I talk to those families from the north. I actually don't talk to them per say because I don't know the language that well....but I can tell when the words are different.

I have the opportunity to use the Rosetta Stone program through my employer, but I'm unsure if I'd be wasting my time at all. I'm more concerned with the northern dialect because the test I'm taking at the end of the year uses it. Any opinions?

i bought the vietnamese version of rosetta stone. it does mostly use the north dialect, because i had a friend who is from the south look at it with me and he told me so.

but other than that, it doesnt help you with any real conversation. it just teaches you words. like 'the car is red' or 'boy jumps'

its pretty difficult and i basically gave up because i wanted to have conversations with people, not point out that a woman has long hair.
