    Is this the correct way to introduce myself in Vietnamese:

    Chào thầy, tôi là Jama và là người Mỹ ạ. Xin lỗi, tên Thầy là gì ạ?

    You are good. But who is "Thầy"?

    About the Possessive adjective (s) using for the 2nd person or the listener you should use "của ông", "của Bà", "của anh", "của chị", "của em"....= your
    In your case, "cuả" in "Tên thầy" is understood. definitely acceptable.

    I am 28, so I use "Thầy" with a man who is about 35+ years. Correct?

    No matter how old the person is, you can call him "Thầy" if you want to. You are right.
