Greensboro, NC – In GCS, there are more than 70 languages spoken in classrooms throughout the district. Besides English, the top five languages include: Spanish, Vietnamese, Urdu, Arabic and French. Reaching this diverse population is essential to the continued success of our students. As such, vital pages of the Web site are now translated into Vietnamese. Spanish translations were added in September.



Within the coming months, major components of the Web site will also be translated into Urdu, Arabic and French. The new, multi-lingual site is just part of the many efforts within GCS to expand communication efforts to non-English speakers.

Các trường học tại Hạt Guilford đã thêm bản Tiếng Việt vào Web Site.
Hạt (or Tỉnh) này đã có trang tiếng Việt và tiếng Tây Ban Nha trong Web site của mình.

Greetings to all Newcomers School families! We are quickly approaching the end of our first grading period. Students have been working hard and are making great progress. We have many important events and dates in the near future to tell you about. Please see that information below, and contact us at any time if you have questions or concerns. It is truly our pleasure to serve the students and families of the Newcomers School.
Early Release Day- NEXT WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 17TH- School will end 2 hours early for students (at 12:55). Buses will bring students home at that time.
Adult English Classes: We are pleased to announce that Adult literacy classes being this SATURDAY OCTOBER 13 FROM 9AM-12PM. At this time we are not able to provide transportation. Once those details are arranged we will inform families.
ZOO TRIP- Students and Teachers will be visiting the North Carolina Zoo on WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 24 during the school day. The cost is $2.00. Money and permission forms are due Friday October 19th. Please let us know if assistance is needed to pay for the trip.
OCTOBER 31ST NO SCHOOL! October 31st is a teacher workday there will be no school for students.
Culture Night November 8th- All families and students are invited to attend and participate in our fist Newcomers School Culture Night on Thursday November 8th from 5:30-7:30. More information will follow.
November Days Off- There will be no school on the following days in November- 6th, 12th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd.

Loi chao than ai toi tac ca phu huynh truong Newcomers! Chung ta dang nhanh chong tien toi ket thuc giai doan thu nhat ( toi nghi la Hoc Ky I) cua hoc ky.
