Wow, when the expert has to ask for help, who is qualified to give it? Just adding my two cents. Kỳ tài refers to more of a genius or one who has a superb talent (tài). Whereas "legendary" means more about being famous and well known for something (danh tiếng lẫy lừng). If someone were to take the Vietnamese sentence and translate it into English: (Bruce Lee là một kỳ tài về võ thuật) you would get the following translation: "Bruce Lee is a martial arts genius"

You're right about the actual meaning of legendary, but I would translate
'Bruce Lee là một kỳ tài về võ thuật' as 'Bruce Lee is highly talented or unusually talented in martial arts,'

and 'Bruce Lee is a martial arts genius' as "Bruce Lee là một thiên tài về võ thuật". Just as Mozart is a genius in classical music.

Agreed. However, that still leaves you without the exact translation for "legendary". I don't think that can be translated as 1 or 2 words.
