Default You are not Vietnamese native- speakers? .... Then have a try to translate.

Now, let's make a try to translate into English this article. We'll begin with a sentence initiated by me and we'll continue to translate to the last (sentence) one by one

the article is on Ha Noi, the capital of Vietnam
I begin with two frist sentences.

    1. Hà Nội là nơi ghi dấu ngàn năm lịch sử
2.Ba mươi sáu phố phường Hà Nội mà khắp nơi đều biết tiếng, trong đó phố Hàng Bạc chỉ là một điển hình, hãy còn rất sống động và rực rỡ.

    1. Hà Nội is a place which speaks of 1,000 years of history
2.Its famous "36 streets" _Hang Bac (silvery street) is but one example_ are still much alive and vibrant.

    My try:
    1. Ha Noi is a remarkable place with its thousands year history.
    2. One of the most popular of 36 streets of Ha Noi is Hang Bac where is still animated and bright.
Nhất tự vi sư , bán tự vi sư
    ---
    1st Version:
Anyone who teaches me one word - even half a word - is still my teacher.
    2nd Version:
Even he who teaches me the smallest bit can still be called my teacher

Please correct my grammar as you see fit. Much appreciated!

    a thousand-year history/ history of a thousand years.

Hanoi was set up around 1000 years ago by Li Cong Uan

I think your opinion of this sentence is not true.

    I like rukkhamula's sentence:
"Hanoi is a place with a thousand years of recorded history".
I still have a question about the possessive case:
    - its thousands year history (dethuong_x0x )
    - Its well-known 'thirty-six streets' (rukkhamula)
Is it true? Because we only use the form noun's + noun for people or animal.

    You misunderstand him:
    Its well-know 'thirty-six year streets' = Its well-know "thirty-six year street"
The first is American English style, the second is British English

Oops, 'is being threated' was a typing error, it should of course be 'is being threatened'. Thanks for bringing that to my attention, english learner. I have changed it in the original post.

But 'of which' is correct, not 'where'.

On another point raised here, 'thousand-year history' is the correct form, if one wants to express it that way. It is a compound adjective and requires a hyphen. It is an alternative to 'a thousand years of history'.

    Now we continue to try....
    .
3.Tuy nhiên khung cảnh đặc biệt của vùng đất cổ xưa mang tính cách lịch sử này đang bị sự phát triễn xô bồ đe doạ.

Tuy nhiên = however; but; in spite of that; in whatever way; nevertheless....
Khung cảnh đặc biệt= special ambience/ ambiance, particular atmosphere; exceptional air; unique climate..etc...( belongs to context)
Vùng đất cổ xưa = historic land; old land; ancient area...
Sự phát triễn xô bồ = chaotic development; disordered construction growth; chaos of construction; development disorder; miscellaneous development.....
Sự đe doạ/sự hăm doạ = threat
Có tính cách đe doạ = threatening (adj)
threatening letters = những bức thư hăm doạ
