    Default Period

when i watch one of the American tv show, people often used the word "period" in the conversation, like they say a sentence and then a short pause then say "period", sound like to stress something. anyone has heard this before, what is the implication of this??

    thanks

interjection 23. (used by a speaker or writer to indicate that a decision is irrevocable or that a point is no longer discussable): I forbid you to go, period.

    Does this make sense?

You can also look at "A period (.)" is an end to a sentence, i.e. an end to a conversation. So when a person says "I don't want to talk about it, period" it means "I don’t want to talk about it, end of discussion”.

i think Just Do it is actually a good concept, some may think just do it is irrational and unthoughtful but there are times when people start discussing too much and stay faraway from the goal.

also when you sit down and think and still you dont know how to do it, then to give it a try and do the "hands on" practice may help you find the way out. In these cases you have a reason to "just do it", in other term, execution. so there is a reason to just do it, it is rational to just do it. hehe
