Can anyone advise the duration of the journey by train & how much does the ticket cost from HCMC to Nha Trang? Also, how long is the time & cost if travel there in a taxi for 6 - 8 people?

Ice Moccha, it usually takes anywhere from 8-10 hours from HCM city to Nha Trang. You can go by train or by public buses and the fare for both is anywhere from $14- $22 one way. However, seating on both of these types of transportation is uncomfortable, slow, and crowded. They also make frequent stops. They do have air conditioning. For a group of 6-8 people I suggest chartering a minivan. It will have air conditioning and the driver will stop anywhere you want him to or drive non stop if you want him to. They usually have 2 drivers taking turns. The cost is about $200 or depending how much you can bargain it down to. On the train and public coaches, they stop at designated stops. There is also domestic air travel to Nha Trang for around $43 one way. Any hotel in HCM city can refer you to various minivan charters or tours to Nha Trang.

Thank you for your valuable informations. Guess the minivan & domestic air travel are better option. Is the domestic air, Pacific Airline?

There are 2 domestic airlines: Pacific and Vietnam airlines. If you do book a minivan remember to ask for the 15 seater or larger van. They say that but it only really fits 6-7 people comfortably. Vietnamese people are smaller and they are used to cramped travel accommodations.
