    There are homonymous and homograph words in these sentences.
    -Homonym means writing and pronouncing are the same , but meaning is diffrent.
    For example: produce( sản xuất, sản phẩm), polish( đánh bóng, Ba Lan), close( gần, đóng lại), sewer(thợ may, cống rãnh), wind(gió, thổi),tear (vết rách, rơi lệ), intimate( báo cho biết, bạn thân)
    -Homograph means writing is the same, but pronouncing and meaning are diffrent.
    For example: +wound: quấn quanh[waund], vết thương[wound]
    +refuse: từ chối[ri'fju:z], rác['refju:s]
    +present:đưa ra[pri'zent], quà tặng['preznt]
    ...etc. The following words are homograph: lead, desert, bass, invalid, doe(s) and does..
    In addition we have:
    -Homophone means pronouncing is the same, but writing and meaning are diffrent.
    For example:: see- sea
    ...
    I think it is very very difficult to listen to these kinds of words.

    yes they are hard but vietnamese is hard because one word can mean several things depending on what accent you put on it and there are words that most cannot say like Nguyen.

    Vietnamese sounds the same after a while. The accents give it some variatons, but when one word has 2 or 3 different meanings, and ALSO it depends on the region (there are many regions), it's tough.

    Very good examples. I can see how it could be hard to pick up the nuance in the pronunciation.

    All these extreme examples in a single list is enough to frighten anyone! These examples occasionally arise in everyday use but they are exceptional.

    I agree with you. This is 21 reasons for difficulties in dealing with belle-lettre scholars. Some teachers (usually bad teachers) often quote these confusions to threaten the students, simply to show that they are good teachers. I got one teacher of Russian who drove his students in a mess of ridles. I failed learning Russian.

    I personally think Learning english is not a short process. It takes time and you have to be patient. Try to enjoy your learning experience. It will help you learn faster. Play word games with your friends, read papers and magazines. You can also refer to www.vocabularybuilding.org for the never exhausting lists of words.

    English is not so hard to learn and speak, with a little effort you can speak in English. To improve your English, read books and newspaper or journal in English that is just above your current level of reading with a dictionary. Listen to speeches or watch movies or documentaries.
